Unusual Morris 1000-based kitcar; easy project for
summer fun
The Kilo Sports was produced by the Thousand Workshop in
Bodmin, Cornwall in the 1980s. The one page leaflet makes exotic
reading...
'The Kilo Sports is truly a two seater sports car in its
own right. The lines of the flowing bodywork, although on the lines of a 1930's
Sports Car are an original design and not a copy. The overall conception is made
to envelope good looks, economy and performance, and at a price well within
reach.
The choice of using a Morris 1000 as a base vehicle ensures that
the rugged mechanics and well known reliability are carried on in a new
form'
The kit included a new chassis and body - all in for £1,035 inc
vat.
The donor Morris for this car dated from 1965 and all necessary
components were transfered. Its enjoyed a few keepers and has been used and
enjoyed over the years although we are not sure when it was last up and
running so have not attempted to start it since arrival. It should be
straightforward enough to get it running - it is basically a Morris 1000 after
all.
The MOT history states that its last test expired in 2017, although
of course it is both tax and MOT exempt.
The V5C states enigmatically
that it is a Morris 1000 Sports and it is on offer at No Reserve so the best bid
on the day buys the car which has a lot of potential for some budget summer
fun.
