Description
1970 Triumph TR6 PI
Just two owners from new,
the current since 1972; only 74,000 miles; always garaged; a very
genuine and largely original example
First
registered in February 1970, this fuel-injected TR6 has had just two registered
keepers from new, the current keeper acquiring it when it was two years old from
a gentleman in the West End of London. A letter on file states that the car has
always been kept garaged during his 50-year ownership and that the 74k miles on
the speedo is genuine. It also states that a new replacement engine block was
fitted about 20 years ago.
There are 26 old
MOTs on file which show that the car has only covered 7,000 miles since 1985,
giving an average of under 200 miles each year. There are a fair few invoices
showing upkeep over the years although it never seems to have needed much apart
from routine service items. A new alloy rocker cover was fitted in 2008, a
stainless steel exhaust system in 2007 and a new green tinted windscreen in
2006.
The most recent bout of expenditure was
in March 2019 to address some issues thrown up by the MOT which cost £995 and
included an overhaul of the rear brakes, an oil service, new ignition parts, new
radiator hoses, new fuel pipes, new n/s/f upper ball joint, new windscreen
wipers plus a few other minor items.
Overall
the car appears to be very genuine and original with a few age-related marks
here and there. The vendor states that it drives well and it was certainly
running nicely when it arrived on site, with good 70psi oil pressure,
although it has since developed a slight mis-fire, as is apparent in the
video.
