1962 Austin Seven (Mini) MkI
Lovingly restored
c.20 years ago and seen little use since; 850cc example; very British, very chic
and very 'in-vogue'
Dating from January 1962 this
charming and appealing Austin Mini, was sold under the Austin Seven moniker and
features the humble, yet zesty 850cc BMC A-series inline, four-cylinder engine driving the front
wheels via four-speed transmission, and here, as a MkI that wonderful ‘magic
wand’ gear lever which makes changing gear a joy.
Finished in a lovely hue of Surf Blue the car sits well and has
evidently been loved, restored approximately 20 years ago with limited use since
with terrific blue/grey interior offering an astounding amount of space for the
size of car!
Numerous invoices on file
date back to 1983, but in brief, the car was subject to a substantial body and
mechanical overhaul in 2002 which included fitment of two new wings, new front
panel, inner and outer sills, front floor pans, rear valence, battery box, front
bumper, door skins and all new rubbers. The mechanical side of things consisted
of a recondition of the original 850cc engine, a gearbox overhaul, new clutch,
water pump and braking system overhaul.
In
addition, the file includes old registration documents (including one that
suggests it was owned by one, Sir Allen Humphries, a CD of images of the car,
aforementioned historic bills, Heritage certificate confirming the detail and
only optional extra fitted to be a heater, the original handbook and current V5C
showing it to have been with the current owner since 2013, 16 old MOTs and
current MOT valid until April 2023 recording no advisories at 72,350
miles.
Ready to be enjoyed this is a super
example and rather desirable given it’s age and model.
