Description
1993 Mercedes-Benz 190E
Tidy, late model 190
with decent spec and 1.8 litre automatic power with just 77,354 miles -
eminently usable example
Supplied new by Mercedes
Benz Woking Motors of Walton-on-Thames in May 1993, this late model (production
ceased in April,1993) Mercedes 190E is finished in Almandine red metallic and
wears a rear spoiler and sits on a set of 15” eight-hole alloy
wheels.
Under the bonnet, the 1.8-litre
eight-valve inline four-cylinder petrol-injection engine develops 108bhp driving
the rear wheels via four-speed automatic transmission with Sports and
Economy/Winter mode.
The interior comes with a
decent spec, including beige cloth seats with manual adjustment, four electric
windows, electric passenger mirror, walnut trim, Blaupunkt radio/cassette
player, electric sunroof, original first aid kit, heated rear window and
original and period NEC car-phone.
The history
file includes the V5C revealing six former keepers to our vendor who has enjoyed
the car on a daily basis for the last four and half years, the owner’s manual
and service book recording 12 stamps plus a further five hand-written entries,
the most recent in January 2020. There is also a documented speedo change at
24,229 miles in June 1999 by supplying dealer MB of Walton-on-Thames.
The car currently shows 53,125 miles, so with
the speedo change in mind, the total mileage is 77,354 – still uncommonly low
for these most usable of Modern Classics. Furthermore, the file includes a
selection of invoices relating to parts, routine maintenance and repairs along
with 19 old MOTs and the current, valid until March 2023 which recorded just one
minor advisory for tyre wear to the NSF.
Ready
to be enjoyed, this lower mileage example ticks all the right boxes for a usable
Modern Classic Merc, yes there are a few minor marks as pictured but for its age
it looks spot on.
