1958 MG Magnette ZB

Current owner for over 20 years; Hi-Gear 5 speed gearbox; lots to like about this nice looking Magnette 

Dating from October 1958, this MG Magnette comes to us in updated ZB form, which saw more power extracted from the 1.5-litre B-series engine, up 4bhp from it's ZA predecessor to 64bhp.  Acceleration improved, with 60mph taking just 18.5 seconds thanks to larger 38mm bore carbs, a higher compression ratio and modifications to the manifold. 

Power was sent to the rear wheels via four-speed manual transmission, however this car sports a Hi-Gear five speed box.

This example had a colour change from grey to the Varitone look in attactive red and cream in 1998. The interior is mostly original although the carpets have been replaced.

It looks very smart with ripple-free sides and good door fit. The engine bay is also tidy and it has been in regular recent use. On offer at a most attractive guide price, these Magnettes make very practical classics, with lots of tuning options, although go well enough in standard form.
