Description
1990 Land Rover 90
Pre-'Defender' 90
truck-cab with 2.5 Diesel Turbo; restored on galvanised chassis in
2013; new steering wheel; canvas back - very cool and very
chic
Dating from August 1990 this Land Rover is
an earlier (but late) ‘pre-Defender’ 90 truck-cab canvas top (the 90 was
introduced in 1984, later becoming the Defender in 1991) and still features its
2.5 Diesel Turbo which produces 85bhp and useful 203NM of torque which improved
the towing capability considerably over the naturally aspirated 68bhp diesel
unit.
The history file suggests the 90 was
restored by RJP Land Rovers in 2013 which included fitment of a galvanised
chassis, underbody waxoil, refurbished bulkhead, re-skinned doors, re-trimmed
seats, black chequer plates. There
are a selection of images in the file and the vehicle is reputedly on SJP’s
website.
Since this time, the truck has been treated to a disc handbrake
conversion, an engine re-build in 2016 by Barry 4x4 Centre, LED Angel eye
headlight conversion, polybushes, recent exhaust, Dyno-mat flooring steering
rebuild, spare wheel carrier performance air filter, silicone hoses and a ‘slick
shift’ for more precise shifting.
Some of these parts are documented, but the engine rebuild is not, but is
referenced in an advert for when the vehicle was advertised for
sale.
The history file also includes the V5C
revealing nine former keepers to the current of two years, six old MOTs, a
selection of bills for parts and works undertaken dating back to 2014 and the
current MOT valid until May 2023 with five minor advisories recorded (enter the
reg at check-mot.service.gov.uk).
Ready to be
enjoyed, this evidently well sorted example started promptly and moved around
with ease for these images and video looking very much the part and very much in
vogue.
