Description
2000 Mercedes-Benz CL500 (C215)
Sleek
five-owner pillar-less coupe with wonderfully luxurious spec in an attractive
colour scheme; immense value and considerable recent spend
Dating from January 2001, this sleek CL500 hails from the C215
generation of S-Class Coupe, known as the CL and is finished in Travertine Beige
and sits upon a set of 17” split-five spoke alloy wheels.
Under the shapely bonnet, we find a thumping 5.0-litre M113 V8
engine which develops 302bhp, and 460NM of torque driving the rear wheels via
five-speed automatic/tiptronic transmission (the later face-lift cars had a
7G-tronic ‘box from 2004) which allowed the big coupe to hit 60mph in just 6.5
seconds and thunder onto its limited top speed of 155mph.
Inside the cabin of this luxury four-seat coupe, we find a plethora
of period gadgetry including acres of soft leather, walnut trim, Comand in-car
entertainment with sat nav, multi-zone climate control with AC, heated and
cooled electric multi-contour electric seats with memory, electric rear head
rests, radar guided cruise control with speed limit function, electric folding
mirrors, automatic lights with headlamp wash, sunroof, electric windows,
key-less go, multi-function steering wheel, on-board computer, parking sensors,
phone cradle and adjustable air-suspension with ABC.
The car shows 113,932 miles and looks to be in fair condition
inside, with some loose bits of trim as pictured (driver’s door speaker cover,
internal wing mirror trim and wobbly driver’s seat control panel) and on the
outside, some corrosion blisters and scuffs as pictured.
The history file for this Lot includes the V5C which shows four
former keepers to our vendor who has owned the car for the last four years,
reluctantly selling due to ill-health and no longer being able to drive. In addition, the file includes the
owner’s pack and service booklet revealing five stamps, the last by local MB
specialist Dovermans in December 2009 at 78,483 miles.
In
addition, we find an invoice dated February 2019 at 105,491 for works undertaken
by Rob Jones Merc & BMW specialist at an eye-watering cost of some £5,452
including a gearbox service, lower ball joints, front control arms, new front
discs and pads, new rocker cover gaskets, new rubber brake pipes, new brake
calliper, new engine blower motor, replacement NSF SRS airbag, 2nd
hand drive shaft. The other invoice on file is from Dovermans dated November
2020 at 111,562 miles for £868 for a replacement NS rear lamp LED circuit board
and repair to heater blower and another dated July 2020 for an interim service
at 110,987 miles.
The current MOT is valid
until the 1st of July 2022 and recorded just one advisory for a minor
oil leak, and as such, is ready to enjoy with a few little jobs for evenings and
weekends to keep you occupied.
