Description
1974 MGB Roadster
Bodywork restored and
repainted in 2018; only 2,700 miles on reconditioned unleaded engine; overdrive;
alloys; stainless steel exhaust; hydraulic bonnet and boot struts;
a pampered MGB with many new parts and a large history file
As the
Heritage Certificate confirms, this MGB Roaster was built in December 1974 and
was originally finished in Bracken with Autumn Leaf trim, a black hood,
overdrive transmission and Rostyle wheels. It was supplied new via Oliver Rix
Garages of Staffordshire and was first registered in March 1975.
Although there is no early history with the
car, it does have a very large file of invoices to document meticulous upkeep
and servicing from 2000 onwards. In June 2014 it was fitted with a
remanufactured 1977 MGB engine supplied by Lynwood Engines of Tipton which cost
£1,650 including an unleaded head. Old MOTs show that since the engine was
fitted it has only covered some 2,700 miles, the odometer currently showing
40,191 miles. Shortly afterwards it was also fitted with new Minilite-style
alloys and a new hood.
Our vendor acquired the
car in 2017 and has continued to pamper and improve it, as evidenced by many
invoices on file. The bodywork was restored and repainted by Malvern Motor
Services in 2018 which included new Heritage front wings, a new driver’s door
and repairs to the sills. The paint is Red Crystal Shine Mica, a very
eye-catching metallic shade which suits the car well.
The vendor has also fitted many new parts including: hydraulic
bonnet and boot stays; halogen headlamps; LED rear lights; stainless steel
exhaust system; new Vredestein tyres at the front and on the spare; new brake
servo; clutch slave cylinder; alternator; expansion tank; K&N filters;
stainless steel tread plates; new door and window rubbers; new dashboard and
knobs; new door cards; tailor made boot carpets; new tonneau cover; battery
cut-off switch in the boot; two sets of keys etc.
As you can see in the photos, the car looks very attractive indeed,
the vendor telling us that it drives as well as it looks. It has certainly been
starting promptly and running well as we have moved it around on site, with good
60psi oil pressure and an MOT until May 2023 with no advisories
recorded.
