1989 Honda CRX (MkII)
Rare to find example
showing just 85,498 miles; punchy 1.6 litre D16A9 DOHC engine with bonnet bulge;
Investment Alert!
Supplied
new by Gordon Lamb Honda Ltd of Chesterfield in May 1989 this appealing and now
highly desirable CRX 1.6i-16 is finished in white and sits upon its original
seven-slot 14” alloy wheels and appears to be in an unmolested, standard
condition which makes it even more unusual to find.
Under the bonnet, we find the 1.6-litre D16A9 four-cylinder DOHC
engine which develops 125bhp at 6800rpm and 143NM of torque courtesy of the
high-revving (non-VTEC) nature of the engine driving the front wheels via
five-speed manual transmission.
This model is easily identifiable by the raised off-centre bonnet bulge
which gave clearance for the taller block of the DOHC 1.6 litre
engine.
Inside the cockpit, we find figure
hugging, well-bolstered CRX embossed two-tone sports seats, electric windows,
electric mirrors, radio/CD player (original radio/cassette unit included),
heated rear screen and sunroof.
This corking
little hot-hatch has covered just 85,498 miles in the hands of its six former
keepers and current of three years. The history file includes the V5C, owner’s
handbook, service book revealing 17 stamps/entries, the last in November 2018 at
83,800 miles which looks to have included a timing belt and alternator belt
change. In addition, we find a few
invoices for service items relating to its last service as mentioned and five
old MOTs, the last expiring in April 2022 this year which recorded no advisories
and reveals the car to have covered just a couple of thousand miles over the
last five years.
Highly appealing and
collectible, these retro Japanese rides have steadily risen in appeal and value
and as such we expect the bidding to be exciting.
