2003 Volkswagen Golf V6 4Motion (MkIV)
Tidy
3-door six-speed manual 2.8 V6 with all-wheel drive showing 101,300 miles - the
one to have
Supplied new by Smith Knight Fay
Volkswagen dealers of Stockport, Cheshire in June 2003, this later model MkIV
Golf V6 4Motion comes to us in desirable three-door hatchback form, finished in
black and sits upon a set of attractive five-spoke 17” alloy wheels and looks
very smart indeed, the discreet V6 badge on the grill subtly hinting that this
isn’t just any old hum drum MkIV Golf.
Under
the bonnet, we find a 2.8-litre VR6 24-valve engine developing 201bhp 270NM of
torque driving all-four wheels (hence 4Motion) here via six-speed manual
transmission.
Inside the cosy cockpit, we find
black leather seats, two stage heated seats, walnut trim, digital climate
control with AC, walnut gearknob, electric windows, on-board computer, electric
mirrors, original VW radio cassette with dash mounted 6-CD changer, heated rear
window and traction control.
It now shows
101,325 miles and was driven some 250 miles from Cumbria for the sale by the
enthusiast vendor who has owned the car for the last four years. Presenting well with shiny paint and but
a few minor marks as pictured and some minor localised corrosion below the boot
handle, typical of the MKIV. Starting promptly and running well as we moved it
around for these shots and video the car felt nice and tight with an eager and
revvy engine – very exciting!
The history file
includes the V5C recording five former keepers, the owner’s pack and service
book revealing 12 stamps, the last in July 2019 at 97,527 miles by P & R
Benn of Cumbria which looks to have been a lube service. In addition, the file
includes the current MOT valid until July 2023 recording just two minor
advisories for “brake pipe corroded/covered in grease/other material” and also
shows the car has covered just 4,000 miles over the last three
years.
Furthermore, we find six old MOTs and a
selection of bills for parts and maintenance, the most recent being a £871 spent
on a new cooling fan, replacement rear brake calliper and new rear pads in
July-22, a new starter motor in March-21 and new air flow meter in November-18
plus a host of other more historic services and parts
invoices.
Ready to enjoyed this is a cool and
most usable Modern Classic where demand tends to outstrip supply and as such
values are notably on the rise.
