Description
1959 Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud I
Three owners
from new; lots of history; a lovely original car that presents very well; driven
50 miles to the sale
The buff logbook for this splendid Cloud 1
lists the first of its three owners as Mr P Dalton from Harrogate. He sold it in
1964 to Mr James of Holmes Chapel before it passed to our vendor's father
in 1974. It has remained within the family business since, the current V5C
showing just one previous keeper which is incorrect.
Forming part of a
significant fleet of wedding cars, it has been fastidiously maintained as can be
seen from the invoices on file.
It has always been kept in fine order, a
bill for £3,000 in 2011 covering various welding and body repairs. The lower
half has been resprayed to a high standard in black, and its original grey
metallic finish remains above. The only significant blemish is a plate-sized
bloom on the boot lid, which the vendors were reluctant to refinish as they
wanted to retain the original paint.
There are 22 old MOTs on file
showing light use over the years, suggesting the indicated 77,000 miles
are genuine - there is no reason to believe otherwise.
It comes
with its original handbook and warranty tabs and retains its nice
number 14 GWU which remains transferable.
Driven over 50 miles to the
sale, this lovely old Rolls retains its original red leather which is in
super order, nice original wood trim with just a few cracks here and there
and is ready to be driven to its new home.
Given the ferocious
cost of bringing one of these Clouds back from the brink, this one looks
exceptional value given its overall condition - it is certainly one
the nicest examples we have offered for some time.
