Description
1974 Rover 3500S
Originally registered on the
Isle of Man; exhibited at many shows in the 1980s and used in an Oasis
video; manual gearbox; restored in 2000/2001 but has not been run since 2002;
for recommissioning
Shouting 1970s, this Rover is
presented here with Almond paintwork below the Huntsman vinyl roof and a pretty
presentable Sandalwood interior.
Originally
supplied by Mylchreests of Ramsey on the Isle of Man to a Mr C Robinshaw of
Ballaugh, it wore the IOM registration MN 9980 and after one more owner and
thirteen services on the island, it was exported to the mainland in 1984 by
classic car specialists Hurst Park Motors and sold on to Paul Cowan in 1985 with
only 29,813 recorded miles.
Another nine
recorded services followed in the book until 1999, while it was exhibited at
countless shows including at the NEC Classic alongside Harold Wilsons’s P5B
apparently! Winning many awards over the years, we are told it was also chosen
to feature in the ‘Stand By Me’ Oasis video. It now shows 134,000 miles on the
odometer.
In 2000/2001 we are told it had a
considerable restoration (no bills on file) with new wings fitted, a respray and
general overhaul. Unfortunately, since then it has been mostly standing, in and
out of covered storage and although sitting well and appearing to be
generally tidy, it has suffered from corrosion in all the places you would
expect underneath, so we would advise coming to view.
Definitely worth rescuing and recommissioning – don’t be shy and
get bidding.
