1968 MGC GT
Very well presented US MGC with
RHD conversion; comprehensive MOTO-BUILD restoration 2017; rebuilt engine and
box; unleaded head; chrome wires; overdrive; good history
file
Originally sold through Washington (US) based dealers in
1968, it was imported back into the UK in 1979. It was subsequently converted to
RHD during an expensive restoration which took place in
2017.
It moved to Spain in 2018 where it was offered for sale
pre-Covid, but has found its way back home and is ready for a new owner to
enjoy...
Photos, invoices and notes on file point to its restoration
by MOTO-BUILD in Egham in 2017, which included the RHD conversion. They also
fitted a large bore radiator, new clutch cylinders, a wooden steering wheel, new
lights, rear springs, stainless exhaust, fuel tank, front and rear bumpers,
chrome grille, chrome wires and new tyres, belts and mirrors and a new leather
interior.
During this restoration the engine was also fully rebuilt -
including a rebore and skim, new +.020" pistons, the flywheel was lightened and
refaced and the bottom-end rebalanced. It had new main and thrust bearings and a
new timing chain and tensioner along with fresh water and fuel pumps. The
gearbox was also rebuilt.
The head was overhauled with new valves,
guides and springs and the head modified to take unleaded petrol.
By
1993, the recorded mileage was just under 80,000, the odometer rising to 3,910
miles (103,910) just prior to the restoration work.
Now showing 4,950,
barely 1,000 miles have been covered on the rebuilt engine and box!
With
a good solid shell, lots of new parts and just a few miles covered since a
comprehensive engine and gearbox rebuild, this pretty Primrose MGC looks super
value.
