Description
Lovely low mileage four-owner car; UK RHD example, from recent
46-year ownership
First registered in August 1968, this smart
blue Series 1.5 2+2 was specified with grey leather upholstery and sold to its
first owner Mr A Taylor who lived in London. We are told that it moved to a Mr
Diffey in 1972, and then a Mr Cox of Bristol in 1973 who was to keep it until
the previous owner acquired it way back in 1976 at which point it had covered
34,912 miles. Brightwells sold it to an overseas Gentleman in early 2022 who
entrusted Mr Hammond's team at The Smallest Cog to look after the car and make
some minor improvements.
The previous owner used John Root, a Jaguar
specialist for the cars' maintenance, service and MOT, initially at Rover
Fletchers and later when he took over Mistermatic Jaguar in Swansea.
A
JDC member from the day he bought the car, it was shown at various events
and used carefully and sparingly, with confirmation that the indicated 70,800
miles is correct. It has been little used since 2017 and was carfully
stored at Mistermatic Jaguar who gave it some gentle and regular exercise
before coming to us for sale last year.
Some bills have come to light
which show considerable work in and around 2007, with a new bonnet supplied
by SNG Barratt (£3,900), some interior expenditure, various welding jobs and a
substantial if not complete repaint. Further bills show a comprehensive £3,500
overhaul in 2017 including track rod ends and a carb overhaul; an £800
spend on radius arm bushes and anit-roll bar links for its MOT and a
further £1,500 on paintwork in 2019. Its most recent bill was in 2020 when
£2,000 was spent on further refreshing the interior. There are plenty more
besides.
We don't have the current V5C to hand as the owner lives
overseas, so its new owner will need to apply for a replacement in the usual
way. It does have a previous V5C and the original green logbook along with
various old MOTs. There is also an operating handbook and a service
and maintenence manual as well as a lubrication diagram.
It sits
extremely well, has the benefit of being a genuine UK car from long-term
ownership and a known history from new. There aren't so many of these about so
grab this good-looking and original example while you can.
