Lot Ended
Description
Firebird Chassis professionally modified to accept Speed 25 engine and
gearbox; comprehensive engine kit including a new head; gearbox; axles and
many parts; a very exciting project; V5C
The vendor of this exciting
kit of parts had always intended to build an Alvis Special along the lines
of a Monza Alfa - why not??
A file within the file shows where
he was going, although its new owner can fulfill their own dreams and
ideas.
The Firebird chassis was modified back in 1997 by Julian Ghosh, to
accept the Speed 25 engine and gearbox which have recently been sitting in
place.
The engine comes from a Speed 25, and includes an excellent
crankcase, a crankshaft with rods and pistons, a 3 1/2-litre block and
brand new and unused head!. The rockers are present and the quirky multiple
valve springs, topped off with the original rocker box cover, carbs and dynamo.
There is also a flywheel and clutch unit, including the pressure
plate.
The project also includes a gearbox (synchro of
course), propshaft and rear axle case plus diff etc.
There is
a front axle beam, with stub axles and a variety of brake options, including
some with massive and very impressive aluminium back plates (and hydraulic
front brakes). There is a steering column and wheel, hand brake parts
and an Alvis radiator cowl.
Included in the lot is an Alfa Radiator
- genuine - which looks like it has come from a 1500....part of the original
Monza thoughts perhaps?
A few other extras inlcuding tank,
Jelly Mould wheels and hubs all have the potential to turn this into a
rolling chassis ready for some creative coachwork.
Included in the
sale are some useful parts books, copy road tests, Speed 25 handbook and
old and new V5C registration documents (on SORN), stating the car as a 1936
Alvis Firebird Coupe.
A lot of work and thought has gone into this
project already, which is ready for the next phase...
