Description
Lovely, clean 2.6-litre automatic LHD example from
Belgium showing just 76,417Km (47,483 miles)
Dating from February 1980, this really rather handsome Rover SD1
Series 1 really looks very nice indeed, the iconic SD1 design looking better and
better the older it gets.
Finished in a super
hue of light greeny/blue the car sits on its period correct wheels and proudly
wears its 2600 badge to its wings, denoting that under the bonnet is fitted the
2.6-litre SOHC Leyland PE166 straight-six petrol engine driving the rear wheels
here via three-speed GM TH180 automatic transmission.
This example, as you’ve no doubt noted, is Left-hand drive and
hails from Belgium originally. Our
vendor bought the car in September 2020 with the intention of taking it out to
his holiday home in Portugal, but then Covid happened and the holiday home was
sold, the car never making it out there. Since then, its been enjoyed in the
clement weather only, helping keep the car in the lovely condition we see
here.
Inside, we find dark brown velour
seating, brown dash and tan carpets - all very late 70s/early 80s and all
the better for it, along with manual windows, heated rear screen, original
radio, analogue clock, fag lighter and acres of space.
The
car shows just 76,417Km which the vendor believes to be genuine although there
is insufficient history to back this up, although condition counts for a
lot. The history file includes the
V5C recording just two former UK owners, the current clean MOT valid until
February 2024, letter from DVLA confirming its been registered as Tax exempt and
a Rover SD1 club magazine.
A lovely example of
a very British icon.
