1965 Morris Minor Tourer

Genuine factory-built Tourer; two owners; fully restored about 12 years ago and only 5,000 fine weather miles since; only 400 miles on reconditioned 1,098cc Ivor Searle engine; interesting history; a really super example all round 

First registered in April 1965, this genuine factory-built Morris Minor Tourer has effectively had just two owners from new. It was first owned by Charles Currey, Managing Director of Fairey Marine Ltd of Hampshire, a distinguished offshore powerboat racer and yachtsman who won a Silver Medal in the 1952 Olympics (333 was the racing number of Currey's powerboats, hence the plates on the Morris).

It stayed in the Currey family (along with three other Morris Minor Tourers) until our vendor acquired it in 1971, initially putting it into the name of his company, and then into his wife’s name, the V5C recording one former keeper.

The car was treated to a professional ground-up restoration between 2004 – 2009, including a full repaint in the original Trafalgar Blue, and we are told that it has only covered around 5,000 fine weather miles since. Although there are no invoices to show exactly what was done, the car speaks for itself.

In August 2022 it was fitted with a reconditioned 1,098cc Ivor Searle engine by Eastwood Garage of Penryn, Cornwall, at a cost of £2,705, since when it has only covered around 400 miles (invoice on file). It also received new brake cylinders and shoes in April this year. The vendor advises that the engine is still running-in and will need an oil change in 100 miles to comply with the terms of the warranty.

As you can see in the photos, the car remains in lovely condition throughout and has been starting promptly and running beautifully as we have moved it around on site. Only reluctantly for sale due to arthritis (the vendor, not the car!), it is ready for a new owner to enjoy.
