Lot Ended
Description
Unfinished project; fully rebuilt 3.8 XK engine; new brakes and
suspension; lots of work done; in running order
Judging by the
photos and invoices on file, this Jaguar D-Type replica appears to have been
originally built in the late 1980s using a RAM kit supplied by LR Roadsters
with fibreglass body panels.
Our vendor,
a retired Jaguar engineer, acquired the car from a friend in 2017 by
which time it was in need of some restoration. A good file of invoices and
photos show much of the work that has been carried out since. This includes a
full engine rebuild with new Mahle pistons and bearings etc. The carbs have also
been rebuilt, a new radiator fitted and the 4-pot brakes and suspension
thoroughly overhauled with many new parts. It also has a stainless steel
exhaust, a limited slip diff and a 220mph speedo.
The car has been starting promptly and running nicely since arrival
on site, with good 50psi oil pressure, although we have not been able to drive
it because the clutch hydraulics need bleeding.
The V5C records it as a RAM D-Type Replica registered in 1972 and
classed as a Historic Vehicle so it is free to tax and MOT-exempt. A few spares
are also included as detailed in the photographs.
On offer here as a straightforward project with all the hard work
done, it is only reluctantly for sale due to illness and shouldn’t need too much
work to get it back on the road.
