Lot Ended
Description
Very nicely presented car; recent comprehensive service; restored in
2000; lots to like; from long-term ownership
One of the many TR6s
that made their way to the US when new, this impressive example returned to the
country of its birth in 1997.
Its first UK owner employed Beacon Garage
of Doncaster to restore it, a letter from then stating that they undertook a
'full' restoration, although there are no further details to list exactly what
this covered - presumably it included the conversion from left to right hand
drive.
Since then it has had three further keepers, our vendor acquiring
the car in in 2009.
He has looked after it very carefully, with bills on
file for work over the period. In 2014 it visited Restoration and Mechanical
Repairs in Sully, Vale of Glamorgan. A bill from them for £2,600 included
fitting a set of exhaust extractors and a big bore system. They also added a
high-torque starter, a thorough brake overhaul and then a series of
invoices from Classic Cars Cardiff dating from June 2015 to cover
a thorough service including some new glass and steering column bushes
(£727). In June 2016 new CV drive shafts and hubs were fitted (£1,010) and
it visited them again in October 2016 for a further £1,372 of work which
included new diff mount kits, rear suspension bushes and some paint
remediation. There are a multitude of supporting bills in the file.
It
has seen little use over the last year or two due to ill health, which is
why it is up for grabs. The owner's son, a mechanic by trade has fitted a
new battery and fresh fuel pipes in the last few weeks to bring it up to
scratch.
Impressive underneath and on top, it looks sharp in its
dark blue and black livery, has a good hood with just one small mark and
sounded very healthy when taking the photos.
On offer with a very
reasonable estimate, this car is well worth close inspection.
