Description
Later model 4.0 straight-six Coupe for recommissioning following many
years in storage; showing 98,580 miles
Supplied new by Jaguar Cars Ltd, Company Vehicles of Browns Lane,
Coventry in March 1994 this later, facelifted model XJS Coupe is finished in
Black with discreet red and silver coachlines sits well upon its original
five-spoke alloy wheels and is presented as a non-runner requiring some
restoration/re-commissioning after spending some years in
storage.
Under the bonnet, we find the familiar
4.0 litre AJ16 straight-six cylinder petrol engine which developed 233bhp and
366NM of torque when new driving the rear wheels via five-speed manual
transmission, a somewhat rarer option.
Inside
the cabin, we find grey leather/vinyl interior trim, walnut veneer, electric
seats, electric windows, air conditioning, heated rear screen and original
Jaguar radio/cassette player. The
interior presents largely well, with the typical headlining sag so often found
and what looks to be a missing driver’s footwell carpet which has highlighted
some signs of corrosion to the footwell section as pictured.
The car shows c.98,580 miles and has been off the road, in storage
for a number of years with no online MOT history available suggesting this to be
at least since 2006 when digital records began.
The
bodywork looks largely fair, with some corrosion evident, particularly to the
leading edge of the roof adjacent to the windscreen trim and on the front
bulkhead around the lower edges of the windscreen as pictured.
We
have made no attempt to start the car given how long its been standing but it
rolled freely enough to take these images.
The
history file includes the V5C showing four former keepers to the current of
three years, the owner’s pack and service book recording eight service stamps,
the last in 2001 at 80,791 miles, some early correspondence relating to extended
warranty when new, another warranty from purchase for £15,000 in June 1999 at
which time the car had covered 59,690 miles, one old MOT dated 1999, couple of
historic bills including a service in 1998 and an early purchase invoice dated
1997 for £20,995 from Evans Halshaw Jaguar.
Offering much potential and no doubt much effort, time and no doubt
some cost, this looks a worthy restoration/recommissioning project for the new
owner.
