Description
Restored 12 years ago including rebuilt engine and only 9,000 miles
since; recent new clutch kit and full stainless steel exhaust system; ready to
enjoy
First
registered in April 1973, this MG Midget MkIII comes with a Heritage Certificate
confirming that it was built in December 1972. Notes on file state that it was
restored between 2010 and 2012 by a retired motor engineer which included an
engine rebuild with new bearings, piston rings, timing chain, reground crank,
unleaded head conversion etc. The MOT history shows that it has only covered
around 9,000 miles since, the odometer currently showing 91,084
miles.
It also had a new Moss exchange gearbox;
new wiring loom; new fuel tank and twin fuel pumps; brakes, steering and
suspension overhaul; new door, windscreen and boot rubbers; new walnut dash; new
hood; Cibie spotlights and 5 new Vredestein tyres. The bodywork had previously
been restored in 2009 and although perfectly acceptable, the paint finish is not
quite as shiny as it could be.
In 2014 it had a
major service which cost £1,700 and included new wheel bearings; new water pump;
new n/s front king pin unit; new luggage rack; removal of the passenger side
glovebox; windscreen wiper mechanism overhaul etc. Other invoices attest to
subsequent upkeep.
Our vendor acquired the car
in 2019 and has continued to look after it well. Serviced every year, it has
also recently had a new clutch kit, a new starter motor and a full custom-made
stainless steel exhaust including manifold. An original owner’s handbook is also
present, along with a tonneau cover and wheel-changing kit.
Driven some 20 miles to the sale, it has been starting promptly and
running well as we have moved it around on site with good oil
pressure.
