Description
Interesting bike on offer from a deceased estate that might require
some recommissioning following c.5 years of inactivity prior to which it was
regularly ridden and competed
Dating from 1959,
this rather splendid R69 motorcycle is fitted with the 594cc shaft-drive
opposing twin cylinder engine developing 35hp with four-speed
transmission.
This example comes to us from a
deceased estate and hasn’t been ridden for c.five years, we are told by the
vendor’s son. Understood to have
been ridden regularly up until ill-health, the bike has also competed
competitively (see images) but is now in need of some recommissioning given how
long its been stored and unused.
The tank
was modified for the vendor to aid with comfort and aerodynamics when in
use/racing and looks rather special.
The V5C
shows just one former keeper to the current (deceased) following import from
Holland and registration in the UK in 2003.
The
history file includes the V5C, copy of the handbook, five old MOTs, photographs
of the bike competing , historic BMW club information, parts manuals and some
invoices for mechanical works undertaken in 2016 along with information about
the bike which was reputedly rebuilt by a 72 year old Dutchman and exhibited at
the 2002 Utrecht show.
