Description
Ammendment.
Rare model and 1 of just 100 UK models
built to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the Cooper's four
race wins across the British Saloon Car Championship (BSCC) in 1968
with Sport pack suspension, wheels and wide arch kit
Supplied new by MBM of Bristol in September 1998, this cool little
Mini is a rather rare bit of kit, and 1 of just 100 believed sold as a Cooper
Sports LE model, known as the BSCC version paying tribute to the 30 years since
the famous four wins enjoyed by the original Mini Cooper in 1968 in the British
Saloon Car Championship.
Finished in Brooklands
Green (the other 50 were in black) with a white roof and bonnet stripes, the car
was treated to chrome grill and handles with white mirrors along with twin coach
lines with BMC style rosette with the words “Mini Cooper” to the rear quarters
and also to the right-hand side of the boot lid plus a V-flash in yellow above
each side repeater (similar to the British Vita logo)
The unique spec of the Cooper Sports LE also boasts twin spot
lights, Sports suspension pack, 13x6J Sports-pack alloy wheels and extra flared
Sports pack wheel arches.
Inside the car we
also find a special dark green leather interior, Walnut dash, green carpets,
black steering wheel and dark green leather gearknob and
gaiter.
Under the bonnet, we find the familiar
1275cc Mpi Cooper engine driving the front wheels via four-speed manual
transmission. AMMENDMENT -The vendor tells us the car has had
nearly a complete JCW power boost kit fitted (everything apart from the oil
cooler as far as he can tell) which ups the power of the mini and
retails at over £3k for the kit.
This cool example shows 80,279 miles which have covered by eight
former keepers plus the current of five years and presents
well.
The history file includes the V5C,
owner’s pack with service book showing seven stamps plus one hand-written entry,
the last in 2015 at 78,763 miles by Autotek of Surrey. Furthermore, the file also includes 12
old Mots, the current Mot valid until January 2024 showing no advisories along
with a file of maintenance and parts bills dating back to the early
2000s.
Bills of note include fitment of a
reconditioned gearbox in 2003 and new Polyflex tie bar bush kit for the front
subframe in 2022.
Ready to enjoy, this looks to
be a rare variant of the ever-popular Mini and likely worth tucking away or
simply enjoying.
