Description
Rarer automatic/tiptronic 968 variant with black leather sports seats
wearing Turbo style alloy wheels showing 112,508 miles
Dating from September 1992 this early Porsche 968 Coupe is finished
in classic Guards Red with body coloured rear wing and sits upon a set of later,
retro-fit 18” Porsche Turbo style staggered fitment alloy wheels shod with
decent Michelin rubber and look really rather good.
Under the bonnet, we find a development of the engine found in the
Porsche 944 S2, the 3.0 litre M44/12 four-cylinder petrol engine with higher
compression ratio, lighter crankshaft, crankcase, pistons, revised intake valves
and manifold along with Variocam (variable valve timing), updated engine
management, optimized intake and exhaust systems and dual mass flywheel all
helping to push the power up to 237bhp (from the 211bhp in the 944 S2)
resulting in improved acceleration and general performance.
Drive goes to the rear wheels via dual mode four-speed
automatic/tiptronic transmission in this example which was a relatively new
development for Porsche first debuted in the 964 generation of
911.
Inside the cabin, we find black leather
Sports seats with red piping and 4-way electric adjustment, electric windows,
electric mirrors, electric lift-out sunroof, 2+2 seating with folding rear seat,
heated rear screen, digital clock, rear wiper, three-spoke Clubsport leather
steering wheel and Sony radio/CD player.
The
car shows 112,508 miles and presents well with a few minor marks/lacquer peel as
pictured. Starting and running well as we moved it around for these images and
video with a fruity exhaust note courtesy of the stainless pipe
work.
The history file includes the V5C showing
just four keepers to the current, the vendor, who has owned the car since August
2013 covering around 12,000 miles during his tenure.
Within
the history file we also find an old style V5, copy old V5C, some 25 old MOTs,
the current MOT valid until July 2024 recording no advisories, technical
literature and selection of bills for parts and maintenance.
Recent
bills of note include a timing belt and water pump service in May 2017 at
107,659 miles costing £1505 (plus the parts invoiced separately) and a host of
others dating back to the early 2000’s.
Ready
to enjoy, this smart 968 Coupe looks rather appealing in Guards Red, boasts a
super interior and considerable history file with lower than average miles for
one of these very capable machines.
