Description
Current owner 11 years and in regular light use; overdrive; rolling
road tuned; ready to enjoy
First
registered in June 1972, this MGB Roadster had one just owner from 1992 – 2011
and while there is no early history, a good file of invoices show regular upkeep
over the last dozen years.
Our vendor acquired
the car in 2012 from a trusted friend who went right through the car to address
any niggles. It was then used as bridal transport on the vendor’s wedding day
and on subsequent holidays to Cornwall, where it handled the 600-mile round
trips without trouble. The advent of children has resulted in the car being used
less and less, hence the reason for the sale.
In fact 10 old MOTs show that the car only covered around 2,000
miles between 1997 and 2011 but has done around 5,300 miles since then, the
odometer currently showing 36,797 miles.
Invoices show that it had a new hood in 2011 when the brakes were
also overhauled with new front discs and calipers plus rear brake shoes and
wheel cylinders. Dyno sheets show that it was producing a healthy 86bhp when
tested by Aldon Automotive in early 2012. It was also fitted with a rear
roll-cage and inertia reel seatbelts at around the same time.
New chrome wire wheels and tyres from MGB Hive
were fitted in 2013 along with new chrome trims and windscreen rubbers. The car
benefits from having an overdrive gearbox, which operates smoothly, and also has
aftermarket electronic ignition. A Haynes workshop manual and an owner’s
handbook are also present.
Always kept
garaged in the current 11-year ownership, the body looks to be reassuringly
straight and solid, although the Glacier White paintwork is not quite as shiny
as it could be.
Starting promptly and
running well as we have moved it around on site, this attractive MGB is ready
for a new owner to enjoy.
