Description
A
very well presented example; complete dynamo overhaul, lovely interior and
great paintwork
This
pretty Austin Seven Ruby was first registered on the last day of December 1936
and was purchased by our vendor in September 2018 from Nigel Snow “Austin Seven
Specialist”.
As
a Mk2 model, this Ruby comes with wind down rear windows as opposed to the
earlier cars hinged windows and a three-bearing crank amongst a few other minor
details. It was previously insured through Peter James Insurance, a “Specialist
vehicle condition form” was issued in September 2018 where the car is judged on
Body, Paintwork, Chassis, Engine, transmission and electrical equipment, all of
which were rated as A1-Top class, just one below concours
condition.
The
vendor has kept up to date with care and maintenance, showing expenditure of
over £1,000 in the last four years. In that figure we have a handwritten account
of the work that has been undertaken with dates for each, which include, a new
coil and condenser in April 2019, a reconditioned fuel pump in October 2019,
however a swap to an electronic fuel pump was later decided upon in February
2020. In August 2021 a full-service took place along with a radiator flush, new
coolant, and new spark plugs. A year later a reconditioned dynamo was fitted in
July 2022.
It
hasn’t been running for a while and we have not attempted to start it since
arrival onsite, so it may need some light recommissioning before use once
more.
The
history file includes a complete tuning and maintenance guide from “The Pre-War
Austin Seven club”. An Austin Seven “lubrication chart” as well as an original
Austin Seven handbook. Other than that, there are some notes for work that has
been carried out and a few invoices, handbooks, and instructions for just about
every component of the vehicle including a full wiring diagram and carburettor
tuning guide.
According
to GOV.UK MOTs were carried out in 2006/07/08/10 showing all passes with no
advisories across the board, in addition to the website results we also have
hard copies of 18 previous MOTs dating from 2010 all the way down to
1988.
Overall,
this looks to be a lovely well-maintained example, all bodywork including
brightwork looking in great condition.
