Description
'Custard'; Rover V8 powered off-roader; later axles and coil springs;
nicely prepared with a sound chassis for work or play
First
registered in March 1955 as a home market 86" Series I, this funky Land Rover
comes with little in the way of history, but plenty to like about its build and
condition.
The chassis sits on later axles and coil springs with a
3,5-litre V8 fitted at the front. The bulkhead is strong and the rear
cross-member is rot-free. In 2021 the engine received a top-end overhaul, the
bill totalling nearly £1,600. It looks to have had a new inlet manifold and
carburettor.
We also think it has a gearbox from a Range-Rover -
which may point to the source of the engine too, but we will let you decide on
its precise make-up.
Offering strong performance and more modern road
manners thanks to the coil springs, this looks like a lot of fun - both on
and off-road.
