Lot Ended
Description
AMENDMENT: Stalled older restoration; believed complete; good
bodywork; engine free but not yet fitted; just needs some
hours.....
Drive shafts now located.....
This RHD Merak has
been comprehensively restored, photos and invoices on file suggesting that this
work was undertaken in the early 1990s.
At some point, it had a more
powerful Merak SS engine fitted, which has subsequently been removed and
repatriated with its original car, leaving this example with its original
engine supplied, but not re-installed.
It's last Mot expired in
June 2013, although it was presented for a fresh ticket in May 2014
which it failed on a number of small items, mainly tyre, brake and headlight
related.
Our vendor acquired the car in 2017 as part of a package of
cars and has decided to part with it now that his other Merak is back
together and up and running with its original engine.
We are told
that as far as the vendor knows, the car is complete and comes with its original
power unit. The engine turns over, although it would be wise to give it a
thorough check over before it is put back in the car.
The fit
and finish of the bodywork is impressive, as is the red
paintwork. This would make an ideal project for someone with a sympathetic
eye for engine building and make a most cost-effective way to Maserati
ownership.
The history file includes its current V5C along
with older registration documents, multiple photos, bills and a catalogue
when the car was sold at Bonhams in 2006.
Rare to find in RHD form, this
looks like a great way to while away those long winter evenings that lie
ahead of us...
