Description
From a deceased estate; one owner from build; great history file; low
mileage; for recommissioning following 10 years in storage
The
Lomax 224 is a British designed kit car using a fibreglass body mounted on an
unmodified 2CV chassis, using the original 602cc twin cylinder 2CV engine
producing 35bhp.
The name Lomax 224 is a reference to the design of
the car, two cylinders, two seats, four wheels, other models included the 223, a
three-wheeler version and the 424 which featured the four-cylinder engine from
the Citroen GS or GSA.
This 224 has been sat garaged since 2013 when
unfortunately, the sole owner and builder of the car passed away. We are told
this was the last time the vehicle was started, so it may be wise to assume some
light reconditioning may be in order. Otherwise in fabulous condition it looks
to have been put together rather well, showing just 8,301 miles which is backed
up by the recent MOT history.
It comes with every piece of
documentation you could imagine, from 2CV Haynes manuals, nearly every single
MOT certificate from its conversion, original Lomax assembly instructions, Lomax
brochures, parts manuals and even photographs of the complete 2CV that was used
for the conversion. It also has a detailed assembly log compiled by the
owner since 1977 as he pieced the car together, plus the original parts
order list.
Finished in the same colour as the donor 2CV, the bodywork
looks to be in overall nice condition, as do the interior and engine
compartment. We have not tried to start the vehicle due to its time off the
road.
Sure to be a great bit of fun on a sunny day, this beautifully
cared for and well-documented Lomax could be the best example for sale
anywhere today.
