1986 was the
year Land Rover memorably ran an advertising campaign showing a Defender 90 V8
performing what seemed like the impossible feat of climbing a Welsh dam almost
vertically. ‘The Best 4x4 by far’ said the slogan…
Supplied new by Kennings of Shrewsbury in May 1986, this Defender
90 V8 has had just four owners from new and has been in the current ownership
since 2009. It has covered 51,800 miles to date, the service book showing six
stamps, the first by Kennings and the next five by Cross Country Vehicles Ltd in
Witney, Oxfordshire, up to 1998 when it showed 27,127 miles.
The MOT history online shows the mileage rising to 51,189 by May
2008 and it was put into a barn shortly afterwards where it has remained ever
since.
It is definitely a Defender that is
worth restoring and seems a very honest car all round. The interior seems mostly
original which is rare in itself, including the cloth seats and tidy headlining.
The engine does turn but is currently not running.
A rare opportunity to
get your hands on one of the most desirable early UK market Land Rover 90
V8s.
