Unfinished restoration project from
a deceased estate; huge potential to complete this very rare and desirable 2.0
litre turbocharged 924
Dating
from June 1981, this Phase II Porsche 924 Turbo is a rather rare beast and comes
to us from a deceased estate, as a stalled restoration and looks to be a solid
example without the usual rusty sills or floors.
Under
the bonnet, we find the 2.0 litre EA431 four-cylinder engine with single
KK&K K26 turbocharger which developed 170bhp and 245NM of torque when new,
driving the rear wheels via 5-speed dog-leg manual
transmission.
The
car was originally finished in (and still partly is) Guards Red with some primer
coating and what looks to be a replacement OS front wing with rubber rear boot
spoiler, lift-out sunroof panel and correct 924 Turbo 15-inch alloy wheels (5
stud, all disc brakes).
Inside,
we find a pair of (loose) pinstripe seats requiring re-covering or replacement,
both door cards (one in the boot) and clean boot wells and carpet. The central carpet section is present
and presentable and rear seats missing.
The brown in the photos of the rear seat wells is carpet underlay, not
corrosion with the shell looking remarkably rust free and solid, with all glass
present – suggesting this to be a sound basis for
completion.
A
stalled restoration on offer from a deceased estate that's been sat for a few
years in a barn in Gloucestershire and was last presented for Mot in 2006
showing 78,884 miles which is about 20 miles more than at the last Mot with only
a V5C on file along with the key.
It
looks like various mechanical components have been disconnected in preparation
for the strip down, as with the partially stripped interior and
bodywork.
An
ideal opportunity to acquire a very rare and now increasingly desirable model
with very few remaining and few for sale, good ones typically £15,000 - £20,000
in value and only going one way.
