Lot Ended
Description
Nicely patinated and original Gazelle; recent bills; 76,000 miles from
new; a sound car
Mr W Smith of Rugby acquired this Gazelle new
on 1st May 1964, keeping the car for the next 16 years. The earliest of the
13 old MOTs on file show it had covered 55,875 miles by April 1981, subsequent
tickets showing just a handful of miles being added each year until 1997 when it
got more regular exercise.
It was still living in the Rugby area, its
most recent MOT dating from 2018 by which time the odometer reading had
only risen to 75,478 miles which, looking at the paperwork, seems to be
correct.
A new owner was found in 2019, who commissioned Maynards Engines
Ltd in Woodchester to give the car a thorough going over, which they did at a
cost of £1,420. Parts fitted during this work included steering and suspension
bushes, track rod ends, an intermediate cross tube, clutch slave cylinder, new
master cylinder and associated pipework.
Since then, the car has had very
little use hence the reason for sale.
It comes with a spare bootlid and
appears nice and solid - and unmolested too. The only thing we could see was a
missing air filter which shouldn't be hard to source.
On the button and
driving around onsite, this entry-point classic has a lot going for it -
decent performance from the 1,592cc engine, Tax, MOT and ULEZ exempt and a nice
original feel to it.
