Description
Fabulously original Vintage AE Chummy; remarkably complete with
some nice features; engine turns; the prefect oily rag resto; rare
model
Last on the road in 1966, according to an old MOT on
file, this highly original and unmolested Chummy was discovered in a London
lockup where it had been sitting patiently for some 40 years.
It had
clearly been well loved and someone had stripped the paint off the car which
still looks pretty solid. It was sold in 2019 as a non-running project and
remains pretty much in this state apart from some careful corrosion protection.
The vendor was attempting to reunite the car with its original number GH 1327
when the continuation buff logbook turned up which made the process much easier,
so it now comes with a current V5C showing its original London GH number which
is non-transerable.
It retains some of its original upholstery around the
rear seat area, has very solid floors but will require some work to the spare
wheel holder which shouldn't be too difficult.
It has been fitted with a
Bowden conversion at some point and a front spring gaiter. The engine turns over
on the handle but no attempt has been made to start the car after all these
years.
The file includes a handbook, various Association Magazines, a
garage lubrication chart and some interesting correspondence from its owner in
the 1960s when he joined the Masons!!
It looks remarkably complete, with
hood and full sidescreens and although needs work, would be simple enough to
turn into the perfect oily rag Austin which will cause interest and
comment wherever it goes.
