Description
Low mileage example from long term storage; recent expenditure
including service and four new tyres
This August 1998 728i Auto was
sold new by Fawdington Ltd in Newcastle Upon Tyne and looks like it was well
spec'd at the time, with walnut trim and black leather upholstery.
The
Handbook and Service book show that they saw it for its PDI and next four
services, by which time it had covered 35,561 miles in 2000. Damon Hill BMW took
over the next three services to 2005 by which time it had covered 65,677 and in
2008, Nick Whale BMW Serviced the car at 72,870.
The MOT history gets a
bit confusing after this as the odometer is badly pixilated and it looks like
several MOT stations have listed the trip readings - the current
accumulated total reading 83,994 miles which the vendor believes is
the correct figure - the car has been off the road since about 2012 and in
dry storage.
Our vendor acquired it and has drained the fuel, given
the car an oil change and checked all levels. Four new tyres later, the car is
running and driving as one would hope and would no doubt get better with some
regular use - it will need a new MOT.
There are a few dings as
pictured and the front passenger door doesn't open so that will need
sorting.
Distinctive and luxurious, this quality pre-facelift E38 looks
like a lot of car for little outlay.
