Description
Tidy Beetle with 1300cc air-cooled engine from enthusiast engineer
owner; very smart and ready to enjoy
Dating from
January 1972 this rather pretty VW Beetle 1300 is finished in Powder Blue and
sits upon 16” steel wheels painted white which really set the car off along with
its shiny brightwork.
Under the louvred rear
hatch we find the 1300cc (engine number matches that on V5C) air-cooled
four-cylinder engine driving the rear wheels via typical four-speed manual
transmission. The engine looks to
have been overhauled in recent times, judging by how clean it all
is.
Inside, we find light grey cloth upholstery
and a charmingly simple dash with the odometer showing 31,774 miles which we’d
assume to be 131,774 given its age and how usable it is.
The history file includes the V5C showing 12 former keepers to our
vendor, a retired engineer who has enjoyed tinkering with the car during
his tenure, 8 old MOTs and a selection of bills.
Bills on file of note include a £202 spend in August 2019 on two new
rear brake shoes and cylinders, £875 spent in July 2020 on two new headlamps,
N/S and O/S rear repair panels, contours and a wiring loom. A compression and timing check in 2014
confirmed all was ok at that time. A recent bill for
protective paint to the underside should bode well for the
future.
Ready to be enjoyed, this Beetle looks
good value and most appealing in its charming colour scheme, starting promptly
and running well as we moved it around for these images.
