Lot Ended
Description
From 'The Clive Webster Collection' and owned by him from new when he
worked at the Abingdon factory; well-known car
AMENDMENT -
Please note the V5C incorrectly states this to be having a 1,998cc
engine
It is not often that one comes across a car that has not only been
owned by one person all its life, but also that person most likely had some part
in building it in the factory!
As confirmed on the Heritage
Certificate, the first and only owner of the car was John Clive Webster, who has
sadly now passed away. It is believed that the car was presented to
him when it rolled off the production line.
First registered in
September 1980, this B is presented in Porcelain White and is fitted with the
original Rostyle wheels and looks to boast a 5-speed gearbox conversion along
with fitment of power steering and air horns.
Having also owned
the immaculate roadster included in the following lot, GOV 189W was the one that
Clive used on a regular basis, keeping it well maintained and going to numerous
shows with it. Although showing 16,500 miles, this looks to be 116,500
with regular MOTs up to 2004 recording the first 93,000 miles. There also seems
to be evidence of a significant engine overhaul within the file of paperwork,
although this was back in 1997.
There are plenty of bills on
file, which include a record of a new fuel tank, exhaust system, new carpets,
the smart leather sports reclining seats and the CD player being fitted in 2005.
More recently in 2010, the near side wing and front panel were replaced along
with the front valance, the sills and the windscreen.
Last put through an
MOT in 2020, which showed no advisories, it has been stored recently with a
neighbour, who has started it every so often and has recently just replaced the
fuel hoses.
A late MGB ready for only its
second owner, it is being offered with no reserve so the best bid takes it
home.
