Lot Ended
Description
Sound original Plus 4; just two owners from new, the current since
1993; only 49,721 miles; full weather equipment; lusty two-litre TR motor;
lots of history
Victoria Garage in Exeter supplied this Plus 4
new, which was despatched from the Malvern works on 17th August 1961. It was a
standard Plus 4, painted Broken White and trimmed in black.
Its first
owner was a Mr Santhouse, who clearly loved his Morgan, keeping it for the next
32 years. By the time he sold it to our vendor in 1993, it had covered just
42,000 miles, a further 8,000 having been added during the following 31 years of
ownership.
A letter on file from the factory dated 1994 shows the factory
service card, detailing a full respray in 1971, plus a full service and the
addition of a luggage carrier (included in the sale but not fitted), a
front bumper, reconditioned side screens (also present), new mirrors and a new
dashboard.
A few months later it went back to have a heater fitted
and in 1980 went back again for a few jobs to be sorted.
No fewer than 33
old MOTs show its mileage accumulation, the earliest of which is dated 1972 by
which time 16,519 miles had been covered.
It's second owner looked after
it very well, retaining all of the original features including the lovely
white-rim Bluemels steering wheel.
The file includes three old V5s dating
from Mr Santhouse's ownership, a buff logbook, more factory letters, the
aforementioned MOTs, bills and invoices and its original handbook.
The
car remains in sound original condition, with some signs of age to its paintwork
(as photographed). It has full weather equipment and was last MOT'd in 2017
since when just a few hundred miles have been covered.
Supplied with one
of the rare 'unsigned' Super Profile books on the Morgan Plus 4 by John Teague,
this true British Icon is as genuine as they come.
