Description
Highly desirable and exceedingly rare P38 4.6 by Holland & Holland
gun makers; one of just 93 UK models; bespoke spec including Tintern Green
exterior, hand-stitched Walnut Brown leather interior, blued interior
handles just like the guns, walnut picnic tables, engraved wood inlay trim
etc
Dating from January 2001 this rare and splendid Range Rover P38 is
one of just 93 UK market examples (with a further 300 going to the US market)
built in collaboration with world renowned gun makers Holland & Holland who
added their own take on the P38 Range Rover.
Finished in Tintern
Green the car presents well, sat upon its 18” Hurricane alloy wheels with body
coloured accents to the spokes, discreet Holland & Holland badging to the
rear and equally discreet twin polished exhaust tips poking out from under the
rear bumper.
Under the bonnet, we find the
218bhp 4.6 litre ‘Thor’ V8 engine which develops a useful 407NM of torque
driving all four wheels via Land Rover’s clever H-gate automatic transmission
with all-wheel drive and the usual diff-locks/low ratio available when
needed. The car rides on air
suspension which seems to work as it should although bidders should note the
modifications to this system under the bonnet with the five air valves as
pictured.
Inside, we find Holland &
Holland’s Walnut Brown leather interior with hand-stitched dash, door and arm
rest trim along with ‘blued’ interior handles just like their guns, engraved
H&H inlaid wood trim, H&H kickplates, walnut rear picnic tables,
collapsable picnic table for the boot with legs that resemble a gun barrel (legs
in the bag in the boot as pictured), useful boot liner and usual spec of air
conditioning, electric windows, mirrors, sunroof, privacy glass, heated seats,
electrically adjustable front seats with driver memory, sat nav/radio/CD player,
cruise control, OBC etc.
The history file includes the
V5C recording just four former keepers to the current of three years, the
owner’s pack and (replacement) Land Rover service book which shows nine stamps,
the last in August 2021 at 116,971 miles by Colwills Garage of
Bude.
Documented maintenance on file
includes solely a major service with replacement water pump, radiator, two
pulleys and belt in November 2018 at 115,620 miles costing some £2,189. We also
note four old MOTs, a letter confirming the vehicle is a genuine H&H
edition and vehicle spec from Land Rover and current MOT valid until October
2024 recording no advisories.
Presenting beautifully, this
rare example hides its 23 years and 118,090 miles well with a supremely
comfortable and well-appointed interior, powerful engine and rugged style –
there’s much to like here in this very British lot.
