Description
Smart, locally owned 2.9 V6 Series 2 TVR with a great exhaust note,
tidy roof and very good history file with bills dating back to
1989
Dating from June 1989 this rather smart
looking TVR S-series S2 is fitted with the later 168Bhp 2933cc litre Ford
Cologne V6 engine. Power goes to
the rear wheels via five-speed manual transmission with only your right foot
acting as a ‘driver aid’ with no abs or traction control to keep this lively and
sonorous beast in a straight line.
As with many
TVR’s the S2 can be enjoyed roof up, as a Targa top with the twin removable
sections neatly stowed or as a full convertible. Offering surprising practicality, there
is space behind the seats and a usefully proportioned boot for a cheeky weekend
away.
Inside, we find black leather/vinyl with
white piping and leather covered dash with array of well-placed switchgear with
minimal signs of age bar some splitting to the base of the passenger seat that
any good upholsterer should be able to make good again.
The car shows just 77,578 miles and presents very well, having been
with our local enthusiast owner/vendor since purchase in February 2016 during
which time the car has covered just over 1,000 miles.
The history file includes the V5C recording nine former keepers to
our man, the Owner’s pack and service booklet recording seven stamps, the last
in 1999 at 50,031 miles by Team Central TVR of Birmingham.
In addition, the file contains 24 old MOTs along with the current,
valid until May 2025 recording just one minor advisory for NS front tyre wear.
We also note inclusion of the DVLA supplied ownership history, two old V5C’s,
purchase receipt dated November 1989 when the car had covered just 3,616 miles
from The Chequered Flag dealership, TVR club mags, an original TVR S-Series
sales brochure and S2 price-list (May 1989) and stack of
bills.
The bills on file date back many years but
recent works of note include a replacement clutch slave cylinder in November
2023 at 77,525 miles, a throttle position sensor in 2015, alloy wheel
refurbishment in 2014, service and wax oil in 2012, new alternator in 2011 plus a host of other bills for
parts and maintenance dating back to 1989.
A most
appealing example of the TVR S-series with the well regarded 2.9 V6 engine in
what looks to be lovely order with a very good history file and appealing
exhaust note.
