Lot Ended
Description
On offer from a Special Cotswold Collection; fully restored from
2012 - 2014; later 1,098cc engine fitted; joined the collection in
2015; a most attractive Sprite all round
First registered
in March 1961, this charming Frogeye Sprite comes with a large and interesting
history file with many invoices and photos which document a substantial
restoration between 2012 and 2014.
A large number
of new parts were fitted, including new front and rear wings and inner arches,
new floor panels, new sills and new front and rear bulkheads. The 1,098cc engine
is shown stripped down before being re-assembled (we are not sure when this
later engine replaced the original 948cc unit). A vast slew of mechanical items
were also replaced including new wheel cylinders, brakes, wiring loom plus much
else besides.
The interior looks to have been
retrimmed as the red leather seats, door cards and dash all look fairly new and
the dash instruments look in tip top order.
The
bodywork looks well from its restorative works and presents nicely in our
classic car barn, the paintwork overall is very well finished but would no doubt
benefit from a light polish, the wheel hubs look virtually
new.
Joining the collection in 2015, the car has
been very little used, old MOTs showing that it has only covered around 200
miles in the last 10 years.
It has been starting
promptly and running sweetly as we have moved it around on site, although we did
note that the brakes are sticking slightly due to lack of recent use.
