Description
Just 26,600 miles indicated; one owner until 2004; with our vendor
since 2011; superb and original condition throughout
First
registered in June 1972, this MkI Capri is a lovely example that has
clearly been cherished from new. Hardly surprising as it had just one owner for
the first 32 years of its life and shows just 26,630 miles on the clock. Our
vendor had known the car for a long time and when it came up for sale in 2011,
he shot up to Hamilton in Scotland to buy it.
Throughout his 13-year
ownership he has continued to keep it in the manner to which it had become
accustomed. It has been serviced regularly and any issues have been sorted
promptly, although he tells us it hasn’t needed much.
In 2012 he
decided to get it to show car standard so it was sent to Clive Rosser
in Swansea for a respray. The engine bay was deliberately left unpainted to
preserve the car's originality and to retain the factory stickers on the
inner wing panels.
Electronic ignition was also fitted, and in 2015 it
got a new stainless steel exhaust. Many of the maintenance invoices have
been misplaced but the vendor hopes to locate them prior to the sale.
We
are told that the interior is totally original and it looks
great, mellowing very nicely with minimal signs of wear. The rear
seats look as though they have never been sat in, the dash looks in good nick
and doesn’t show any signs of cracking, thanks to being garaged throughout
its life.
A quick search online shows MOTs were an annual occurrence
from 2006 to 2017 (when it became MOT-exempt) with no advisories ever recorded.
It has only covered 8,500 miles since 2006 and the indicated mileage of 26,630
is believed to be correct. The paintwork still gleams some 12 years after it
was applied, testament to this Ford's pampered life to date.
Surely one of the best-preserved Capris remaining, this time warp
example is well worth a look at the sensible guide price
suggested.
