Description
Rarer 2.6 litre straight-six engine 109in with Safari roof;
free-wheeling hubs; enough room for up to 12 at a squeeze!; in need of some
restoration having been in storage for at the last 12 years; engine turns, props
disconnected for ease of movement
Dating from 1973 this rather
interesting Land Rover Series 3 109in comes to us in desirable Safari spec and
boasts Deluxe trim, including the original twin skinned safari roof,
factory headlining and roof vents with seating for up to 12 people at a squeeze,
or 9 more comfortably.
Under the bonnet, we find the
rarer 86Bhp 2.6 litre straight-six cylinder petrol engine which drove all four
wheels via manual transmission with overdrive and the typical low ratio/diff
locks as standard. This example
looks to have also been specified with free-wheeling hubs to further enhance its
agility and usability along with side/rear steps and two spare
wheels.
Showing just 58,000 miles
(un-warranted) the truck looks to be wonderfully original with a fantastic time
worn patina with a solid looking bulkhead and good underside, having been
barn stored for the last 12 years by our vendor, a Land Rover enthusiast with
too many other old Landy projects taking his time up.
We are told the
engine will turn and he has disconnected the props for ease of movement and that
the truck remains in original condition/spec with some typical corrosion as
shown to the door bottoms and bonnet underside.
The history file
includes only the V5C and information sheet from the vendor.
A lovely opportunity to get this 109 Safari back on the road and
leave the patina well alone.
