Description
Four owners from new; only 67,750 miles indicated; good running order
with various new parts; a really genuine E-Type that is ready for a new owner to
enjoy
As the Heritage
Certificate confirms, this Jaguar E-Type Series 2 2+2 was built in May 1970 as a
RHD UK-market car and was supplied new via Henlys of London, finished in Dark
Blue with Light Blue trim and a manual gearbox.
It has had just four owners from new, according to the V5C, and while
there is no early history with the car, various old MOTs and tax discs imply
that it was in light regular use in the Ledbury area throughout the 1980s and
late-1990s before being put into storage. It was then MOT’d again in 2006 at
65,233 miles and then seems to have been back in storage for the next nine
years.
In 2015 it looks to have been
recommissioned using many new parts supplied by SNG Barratt. These include: oil
seals; wheel bearings; steering and suspension bushes; four new shock absorbers;
full brake system overhaul etc. It then passed another MOT in September 2015 at
65,581 miles before going back into storage for another six
years.
In June 2021 it passed another MOT at
65,992 miles and was then used more regularly, the odometer currently showing
67,753 miles. It sailed through its last MOT in August 2023 with no advisories
recorded since when it has only covered some 160 miles and it is, of course, now
MOT-exempt.
Recently fitted with a new steering
wheel and a new Powerlite Performance alternator, we are told that the car runs
and drives well. It has certainly been starting promptly and running very
sweetly as we have moved it around on site, with good 40psi oil pressure.
As you can see in the photos, it looks like a
nice, genuine example with a pleasingly original interior, good panel fit and no
obvious signs of corrosion, either above or below. The paintwork has a few
microblisters here and there but is generally very
presentable.
Altogether a good, honest E-Type at
a sensible guide price that is ready for a new owner to enjoy right
away.
