Original UK
car with just three owners from new; nut-and-bolt restoration in the eighties
and kept in superb order since; a wonderful example of Britain’s most beautiful
sportscar
First registered in June 1964, this wonderful Series One
E-Type has had just three owners from new, our vendor acquiring the car in March
last year from a gentleman who had owned it for the previous 35 years.
We are told that the car was treated to a total nut-and-bolt restoration
in the late eighties including a bare-metal respray, complete engine
and gearbox rebuild and uprated brakes with four-piston calipers. Although
there are no invoices to state exactly what was done, photos on file show the
Jaguar stripped down to a bare shell prior to being repainted.
As you can
see in the photos, the car still looks great some 35 years on, with excellent
panel gaps, a nice paint finish, smart engine bay and a nicely mellowed
interior.
The history file includes the original green logbook and some
more recent invoices, including one for some minor paintwork however this does
not specify exactly what area required attention. There is also an invoice for
two new rear wheel bearings in October 2022, along with some workshop manuals
and parts catalogues.
Our vendor (a former British Leyland mechanic) has
set about some minor fettling in his ownership to keep his E-Type in tip top
order, including giving the engine bay and underside a good clean up.
Although it no longer needs one, it has an MOT until August 2025 with
just one minor advisory for slight play in the n/s/f upper suspension arm ball
joint. It also passed an MOT in April 2023 and it has only covered around 200
miles since.
Starting promptly and running very nicely on site, this
gorgeous E-Type looks mighty tempting at the sensible guide price suggested.
