Description
Unique MR2 GT built as a tribute to an Italian sportscar;
imported to the UK in 2002; Toyota 2.0 turbo engine and 5-speed gearbox; driven
30 miles to the sale; get yourself noticed!
This
stunning special is based on a 1991 Toyota MR2 GT Turbo that was imported from
Japan in 2002. As you can see, it has since been converted into a replica of a
well-known Italian sportscar.
For
legal reasons we can’t actually state the make and model that this car was built
to resemble but you can probably guess. We also can’t show you all of the car in
the photos on the website because certain logos/elements may be subject to
copyright restrictions so best if you come and view it for
yourselves.
Under
the Rosso Red GRP skin lurks the brilliant chassis and running gear of the donor
MR2 GT, a nippy Roadster with a mid-mounted 200bhp 2.0-litre turbo engine and
5-speed gearbox. With superb handling and bullet-proof Toyota reliability, it
has all the performance you could reasonably need.
We
don’t know when the car was built into its current form or what kit was used (if
any). Our vendor acquired it earlier this year from a gentleman in Dorset who
had owned it for the previous seven years. He drove it back to Wales, a journey
of 150 miles, and tells us that it runs and drives very nicely. It has an MOT
until May 2025 with no advisories recorded and is showing just 57,361 miles on
the clock.
There
is no real service history with the car but we are told that it has recently had
new front
tyres and brake discs, a new cam belt, water pump, track rod ends and new
coil-over shocks all round but there are no invoices to substantiate this. There
is an invoice for a new windscreen which was fitted in March this year and for a
new Bosch battery fitted in May 2023.
Starting
promptly and running well as we have moved it around on site, this unique
sportscar was driven some 30 miles to the sale and will turn heads wherever it
goes.
