c1970 Carlite Casalette S Two-Berth
Caravan
SOLD £3,696
A stunning
two berth icon; freshly restored; cocktail cabinet; new upholstery; very chic;
compact and lightweight; suitable for 1600cc upwards
Thought to date
from the early '70s, this delightful Carlite Casalette would have been the envy
of every other caravanner on the pitch. Top of the range, and with a strong
following today, the Carlite was the Rolls-Royce of caravans.
This fine
example spent most of its life in dry storage, being discovered by the vendor 18
months ago. Since then, he and his partner have done a splendid job refreshing
the caravan, for it was already in very solid and sound condition.
They
have re-buttoned the original cushions, fitted hand-made curtains, wall-papered
the bathroom and kitchen area, painted it throughout and replaced the lino
flooring as well as the laminate in the bathroom and kitchen.
The gas
lamps are in working order, the flexi gas pipes are new and the gas hob, grill
and oven are all functional - and spotless! The fridge is in working order and
the outside lights have been rewired. It even has its hidden cocktail cabinet up
front complete with 6 original glasses.
The chassis has been overhauled
and repainted and the original jack and wheelbrace are still present. The four
corner jacks are ready greased for use (with their ingenious quick release) and
it is basically all ready to go.
It comes with an original orange canvas
awning by Harrison (leaflet on file) with all the poles and in excellent
condition. There is also an original Carlite manual, a later Carlite accessories
brochure and even the original Practical Caravan Towing Weight
Calculator.
Light enough to tow by most classics...say 1600cc upwards, it
would look superb behind your Cortina, Minx or Corsair on the way to your
weekend away.
