1979 BMW 520/6 (E12)
No Reserve
In
storage for many years this LHD E12 gen' 5-series is a rare car, here in manual
six-cylinder M20B20 form requiring some recommissioning
Dating from
January 1979, this BMW E12 series is finished in an attractive hue of light
green with matching green cloth interior. Featuring the M20B20 2.0 litre
straight six engine that when new produced 120bhp and here, is driven through a
manual Getrag 'box.
The car has been, as we understand in storage for
many years in the Midlands until our vendor chanced upon it and pulled it out.
The car starts and runs and would evidently benefit from completion following
what looks in all likelyhood, like a stalled restoration.
Earlier this
year he treated it to some receipted remedial works including new radiator,
timing belt and water pump, oil service, new clutch and reconditioned cylinder
head with new gaskets at a cost of some £1875 in February 2020 by DNS of
Stafford.
The history file includes a service booklet showing it
hailed from Dussledorf owned by a Lisi Luigi with 3 stamps by Autohaus Muller in
1979 and 1980 for the PDI, running in service at 1,000km and for anti corrosion
along with a selection of original German manuals.
A rare car, and in
what looks like good condition bodily and with respect to the interior its hard
not to fall for the sweet lines and deep lip x-spoke alloy wheels fitted. A LHD
example showing 176,038km the car does not appear to be UK registered when we
looked the chassis number up its ripe to be registered and completed with the
E12 rapidly becoming the next 'one to watch' following on from recent E34 price
hikes and popularity no doubt.
