Description
1957 Austin A35 Two-door Saloon
Very
presentable little Austin; most recently been used for display purposes
after long term ownership; few previous owners; runs and drives;
beautiful example
This A35 has
only really had five owners since its first registration in January 1957. Up
until 1959, it was in the care of Austin/BMC themselves, until being sold to
lady owner in Coventry who, according to logbooks on file, owned the car for a
considerable time until ownership changed again in 1989. The car then remained
registered to a chap in North London until 2010. In 2016, our vendor acquired
the Austin and although occasionally used, it made a great little exhibit within
the showroom of his international removal business.
We would not
want to guarantee the mileage on a vehicle of this age, although there are
multiple MOTs on file, the earliest from 1977 and the latest in 2011 which show
the mileage to be consistent. Bidders will need to make their own mind up on
this but certainly the condition is impressive, although not concours. One can
only imagine that it is likely to have spent a lot of its early life
stationary.
Ownership history is
well documented in the file, although there are no bills for any maintenance
over the years. It is sure to have had a respray at one point though, the chrome
work is certainly better than average, and the interior looks to be nicely
original.
Running,
driving and cared for, for many years, this little A35 is definitely worth
coming to have a look at.
