1963 Land Rover Series IIA
Only three recorded
keepers since new; cosmetically restored approximately ten years ago; original
petrol engine; service book and owners pack
First
registered in November 1963, this Series IIa Land Rover has carried out many
tasks for its very few registered keepers. The previous owner has investigated
the history from day one with the DVLA and believes the first keeper from 1963
was the local Reverend in Abberley, Worcs. This became a long term ownership
until 2008 when it was sold to his neighbour and finally to its
current registered keeper in Wales in 2012.
Unusually for
a Land Rover, it is accompanied by a recorded service book running from its
pre-delivery check in 1963 at Coachcraft, Evesham, then regularly written in
until 1986, when it showed 65,000 miles. One can only assume it took a little
rest from life in the 1990s/2000s and work to restore the old Landy started in
approximately 2012. There are no invoices for this work as it was done
‘in-house’ but there is a photograph on file of what it looked like before any
work commenced and it did not appear to be that bad!
Obviously, it
was repainted and some door panels etc were replaced. Other cosmetics were
worked on, but the majority of the underneath, the engine bay and the seating
have all been left as original as possible. It does run and drive and was last
MOTd in 2012 too at 85,058 miles. Having not legally needed another MOT, it has
not had one, so although running, we would imagine some light recommissioning
and light corrosion issues might need attending to underneath.
