1965 MGB Roadster
Useable 'pull handle'
example; older comprehensive restoration; current ownership 44 years; wires;
overdrive
This attractive '66 MGB Roadster comes to us from a local
owner who acquired the car in 1977 and used as a daily driver for some years. He
passed it onto his son who replaced the original three-bearing engine with a
later five-bearing unit, the mileage at this time registering 79,000
miles.
The ownership then transfered back to the father in 1988. It was
treated to a comprehensive body restoration in 2006 since when it has covered
very few miles.
There is little in the way of paperwork to show what was
done back then, although it is clear that the bodyshell is in very good order
with presentable door-shuts and panel gaps. It retains its original aluminium
bonnet and black leather upholstery, which would respond very well to some hide
food and general smartening up. The paintwork is presentable although not
concours, with just a few areas of micro-blistering. The areas along the rear
wing tops and around the lower screen - the usual areas to go on an MGB
look good.
Its last MOT expired in June 2018 which had just one advisory
for nearside tyre wear, since when it has covered just a handful of
miles.
The lack of use is evident in the way it is running,
the engine running on three but otherwise sounding fit and healthy so could
do with a good service and tune up. The three-synchro gearbox is still fitted
along with an overdrive. The underside looks very solid and still shows the red
paint of its restoration.
This nice early MGB has potential to become a
really first class example with ease.

The
hood is a little faded as can be seen in the photos and the tonneau has had the
lift the dots fitted the wrong way round, but other than that, a minor jobs
would result in a very nice, early 'pull handle' Roadster.
